Mr. Washington is amazing. He was compassionate and thorough when I requested to speak with him regarding assistance for my child.
The only good part that came out of this school was the opportunity to dual enroll in college. I was a early graduate and never made any trouble and stayed out of the way. But I always will remember the guidance couselors being too busy to help and had a problem when asked to do a small part of their job so I could advance swiftly and peacefully. Teachers are a make or break--had one teacher that did his absolute best to keep me out of NHS because I chose college classes over his culinary class. Lastly, they promised me my spot in my senior prom and when I went to purchase my tickets I was told they ran out. They did not take into account how many seniors there were and their plus ones. So I just missed out on something I can never get back. Truely the worst possible school to attend. Stay at home, you will learn more anyways.
Awesome, awesome school. Sadly, I am currently in search of another school for my child because we are relocating. But, if I could take the teachers and relationships that my child has fostered at EastBay with us, I would be so very happy. I hate that my child has to leave such a warm and caring environment.
This school is trash. If you're looking for a good education in hillsborough county, go to any other school but this one.
I was reading some of the posts from students and parents. First, let me start with the parents. If YOU do not interact with your children and believe it is the schools job to teach your kids, you have already set them up for failure. YOU must be as involved in your child's education as they are. If you are not, again, failure...
For the students, quit complaining about the teachers and do something about it. You come on here and complain, but what have you done about it? NOTHING I would presume. My children are in sports and other activities in the school and they are doing very well and like the school. Yes, it has it's ups and downs, but what school doesn't that has teenagers? Again, look at the parents. If kids are not well behaved, most likely they have learned from the parents. Drugs.... They are in every school, if you don't think so, you are not from earth. Some schools have marijuana and others (with money) do cocaine and other expensive drugs. However, if you teach your kids what is right and what is wrong, your kids will follow that path. If you are not involved in your kids daily routines, go back and stick your head in the sand and be an Ostrich. If your kid is bad, think about this "Birds of a feather flock together". I think this is a good school. There is no doubt it can be cleaned up a little bit, but what school doesn't? And the resource officer is awesome and is always around and involved.
If you can please stay out of this school district. Way under staffed and so many kids that go here truly hate it and are even scared from all the fights. Has really gone downhill even more. Thankfully I was able to pull my child from here to the hospital homebound program! Teachers and staff are really overwhelmed but have been extremely nice
